i've noticed out of all my 14 batches i've done the 2nd glass always pours more cloudy that the first, is this normal and does it happen to everyone or is it just me and my bad pouring technique???
cheers guys
cloudy 2nd glasses
Re: cloudy 2nd glasses
It's because when you straighten the bottle back up after pouring, the beer sloshes back onto the yeast. This stirs up quite a bit of cloudiness. What you have to do is gently pour your first beer, then very carefully straighten the bottle back up: as slowly as you can. Alternatively, just pour it into a jug.

w00t!

Or you should use a glass that's big enough to allow you to pour the entire bottle in one go.
I use either a Schöfferhofen or a Franziskaner 500 mil glass for stubbies, or a 1 litre stein for longnecks.
