Hello all,
As I hopefully soon will be getting a kegging set-up, I would just like to know what everyone out there that started kegging did with there bottles?
I understand that some should be kept for bottling the leftover from the fermenter, I have a thought that they are to good an investment just to get rid of(especially when I only paid 10cents a crown top), and seeing how hard they are to come by these days, maybe just hang on to them and sell them later in life?
Cheers

They won't spoil or deteriorate.
Vermin and insects won't damage them.
Hang on to them. You will use them from time to time, as you say, at least for bottling the excess of your kegs.
I have heaps too many bottles, about 100 longnecks, and about 600 stubbies, but I give a slab, or 6 pack, occasionally to my son, so I am very slowly reducing my numbers. Mind you, he only gets stubbies, the longnecks are all held for my own use exclusively.
If you still find you have too many, somewhere down the line a new brewer will probably be glad to have some of them.

Re: Un-used Bottles
I've got about 300 Crown seal Tallies and about 100 stubbies, my son is only 7 and I thought that one day when I teach him about Brewing, he'll be able to make use of them aswell, its a long way off but he loves a sip of my beer.
What is the future of storing beer? It has always been bottles and kegs(more people obviously kegging now). What happens after kegging?
Just gotta wonder as everything in life has changed from what it used to be like..

we have plumbing for hot water, cold water and gas. it's only a matter of time until beer is on tap all through the house
