Is it a good idea to give beer to pensioners??

Post by chadjaja »

With today tonights campaign and website for adopt a pensioner in your local community it had me thinking.

The price of beer has gone up and up over the years and for some having a beer whilst watching the footy would of become a luxury.

My main worry is that I get old Harry up the road who says its fine the I give him a carton of home brew I'll make for him and then he drops dead as it messes with his meds. I know thats thinkng the worst and a bit morbid but I don't want to be responsible for that at all.

Costs us pretty much bugger all to make beer and comercial beer even VB is probably out of reach for a lot of struggling pensioners.

We will sign up to help out with some locals doing it tough money wise or with big gardens that need work etc.

What are your thoughts on the free home brew though? I guess its a nice thought but frought with possible implications.

Most pensioners drink light beer, because they can't handle the full strength stuff.

Mate i cant see any reason why there would be a problem. as long as he has doesnt have any health issues for not consuming a heap of home brews whats the prob??.... Just go down your local liqour store or even pub on a wednesday or thursday and see how many fellas are buying beer. If you are all that worried maybe give him a half a carton a week. I hope when i get old some mate of mine would give us beer once a week
Ah, beer, my one weakness. My Achille's heel, if you will.

My Old Man was a demon drinker in his time.

He's backed off now and knows his limits due to medication....as they all should.

Go ahead and give him some but make sure they are not the big % ones.

He does not mind my HB at all now........he once said "I will not be drinking that crap"

Now he's saying "That's pretty good"

Go for it

Cheers

A homebrew is like a fart, only the brewer thinks it's great.

i think it's a wonderfully benevolent idea, and i'd hope someone would do the same for me when i get old - but in this day and age, sadly too many people are out there to blame and make a buck over liability rather than take responsibility of their own actions, and i could see potential for it to go sour :(
