Help me make an American IPA recipe

Post by Tim... »

I'm looking into brewing an IPA, so I jumped down to grain and grape (for the first time, great place), picked up some goods, and hoped I could make an American IPA out of it. Here is what I got:

Bucketloads of LDME as my stock was low
1.1 kg Coopers LLME
80g Cascade pellets (6.8%)
40g Chinook pellet (11.1%)
200g Crystal grain (JW i think, I don't know my grains yet  )
Wyeast 1272 (American Ale II)

Also I have a few other leftovers which I don't believe will be of much assistance, such as rolled oats, choclate malt, and amber malt.

I assume I just steep the crystal at 70C for 20 mins.

So can anyone help me make a recipe out of this (hopping schedule most importantly)?

Thanks!
Tim

EDIT: Realised you were after IPA, not APA.
Posted recipe irrelevant, MUCH more hops needed.

If you subbed the centennial and just used extract (and converted units) this hop schedule might be useful:

This is becoming a favourite after 5 attemps and slight improvents each time.

LDME 1kg
Maltodextrin 250g
Crystal 250g (Steeped at 70oC 1/2 hour)

Bring the above fermentables, first and second runnings of the Crystal to the boil in 9-10 litres of water and hop as follows:-

Perle 6.7% 20g 60min
Cascade 5.8% 20g 30min
Amarillo 8.9% 20g 15m
Irish Moss 5g 5min

Flame out and stir in:-

1.5kg LME (Morgans)

Top up to 21l and ferment with US05

Cheers and enjoy!
