Supermarket Bargains

Post by Evo »

Due to the fact that I like the interaction between brewer and HBS dude, I've remained pretty much virginal as far as supermarket supplies go. Having discovered this board and no longer being as dependent on HBS dude's advice, I thought I'd have a look in the supermarket.

What can I say ? Baa-aa-a-aargains !

Coopers Original cans - $8.99
Coopers Pale Ale - $10.78 (that's what I'm talking about)

Their DME isn't that cheap at $9.30 a kilo, but the rest of it is about two thirds of the price of my HBS.

What sort of bargains can be found elsewhere in this wide, brown land ?

G'day all,

Is it the bavarian thats being discontinued :?:

If so I will have send her indoors back to grab a couple more.

How much do you blokes pay for your SAF yeasts :?:

Tommo,

Does a fridge magnet stick to the bottom of that 12L pot? (Trying to find a large pot that will work with an induction cooktop).

Thanks,

Tony

Cool - that's what I'm looking for! Got a brand name on the pots?

The reason I ask is that we've got an induction cooktop, and it only works on pots that have enough ferrous metal in their base. Depending on what grade of stainless, and what other metal is used in the base, not all stainless pots will work on an induction stove.

Thanks much,

Tony

no worries,

Brand: Homemaker 11.5lt stockpot.

Safe for Electric, Gas, Ceramic, Halogen, Dishwasher.

Big dub also has them but about $12:00 dearer.

Hope this helps.

That's about the price I pay.

Don't forget that the Bavarian Lager comes with a Saflager yeast, so don't go paying $3.95 for one to use in the Bavarian :D

I buy my cans and dextrose at the supermarket; malt extracts and anything else at the HBS, feel like a bit of a bastard not buying all from the HBS but sometimes every dollar counts, (people shop around when buying other shit so that is how I justify myself)
