Not drunk on Ales?

Post by SimonH »

Interesting. I am starting to see the beer fridge as falling off the fence - to the expensive side! Or maybe it's the move to AG. I think I'll do both after summer.

Here's a weird side topic - one that i'm too embarrassed to make a title out of: do you get drunk on ales? Sounds bloody weird hey! Mine tastes great but for some reason I liken drinking it to a tasty meal. There is a lot of complexity in there which i really enjoy but after a couple of longnecks i don't feel like if i had had a couple of lagers. It feels filling. I haven't drank more than a couple yet but that is probably coz i haven't wanted to. And that is not to do with taste. I am English and should know all about ales but have never really drank them until i got into home brew, only recently. The opinion forming in me is lager lager all night, or a couple of heavy complex ales to chew on.

The other thread was holding its topic so well. I split this one out.

Well, it could be that you are drinking beer that actually contains malt

as somebody who was born and raised on Cooper's ales; I can safely say that Ales will get you nicely sloshed and you can drink many of them.

he's taking a stab at megaswill using cheaper alternatives to malt, like corn sugar etc etc, rather than all-malt.
