Am thinking at brewing some sought of English summer Ale. Am wanting a partial mash or even a small all grain up to about 4.5 to 5 kilos of grain. any ideas? I had a look at Emersons and what thay have sounds interesting.

English Summer Ale
Ah, beer, my one weakness. My Achille's heel, if you will.
Re: English Summer Ale
If you can mash 4.5 to 5 kg of grain, you are doing a full AG brew.
Sounds like the malt bill is all Maris Otter, there is no mention of anything else in the mix. Should still work nicely though.
Try to mash it at about 66 to 67ºC.
As for hops, you have to go NZ hops, NZ grown Saaz B or D would be brilliant. Aime for about 30 to 35 IBU, with lots of 10 minute and flameout additions.
I brewed an ESB earlier this year with all Saaz B, and it worked really well.
Use an English Ale yeast designed to leave you with some fruitiness, eg London Ale etc, and ferment at 18 to 20ºC.
Hope that gives you some ideas.

Re: English Summer Ale
A suggestion if i may
90% Bairds Maris Otter
5% Bairds med crystal
5% Wheat
Bittering - your choice
Williamette - 1g/L at 20mins and flameout
A good english yeast.
Mash low (65C)
If you are buying from Wayne he has all the grain listed. For bittering i would go with target to stick with the english theme. Wayne also has the entire selection of wyeast liquid yeast so maybe 1028 for this one.
I say all this as i have made this using US Williamette and it was soooooooooooo good. All gone in a very short time. Am currently sourcing some more US Williamette.
