Does anyone know of online info on the basics of brewing chemistry?
I have noticed that any formal brewing quals need chemistry knowledge and wanted to see how complictaed it is.
I have seen a few books online that cover the topic pretty well but don't want to pay for it just yet, until I know it's for me.
Cheers,
Wade

Re: Brew Chemistry
WSC,
i think you'll find the basics of brewing chem in the Palmers "how to brew" book thats online...
I dont think there is any real need to know much more than that, except to get a water quality analysis done on the water in your local area, so you can compare it to other waters, and to see what is high, and what is lacking in your water.
if you have beersmith, and know the levels in your water, you can compare the profile of your water against the one you want to match as can add the chemicals you need accordingly..

Re: Brew Chemistry
Thanks James L. Just checked it out, looks good.
I will have a detailed read and see how I go, it looks pretty straight forward.
I will look for the Brew Chem book also, but in the meantime does anyone know where you find the equations online etc for what happens in brewing?
