steam sterilizing bottles

Post by murphys law »

Hi guy
i was just wondering if i could use the steam wand of my coffee machine to sterilize my bottles.

My thinking is that i can just go through and clean everything just before i start a brew then just run some steam through the bottles before filling.

TIA

Instead of steam sterilising, you could always chuck your clean bottles in the oven at 160C for 12 minutes... that will achieve the same thing as autoclaving with steam for 15 minutes at 121C... thats simple and you can do a few dozen at a time...

depends how clean your oven is though...

160°C for 12 minutes might make your PET bottles (if that is what you are using) a little "pliable" :)

I am guessing James was inferring glass bottles...
