I concur.

I find Beez Neez disgusting.

However, Black Ban Bitter is a very pleasant beer. I tasted it on the Great Intercontinental Pub Crawl 2005 and am looking forward to returning to Bell's and drinking it while watching the Adelaide Crows demolish some hapless other AFL club.

Cheers,

Yeah, Beez Neez is up there on the bad list, I'll give you that. One saving grace, and the reason it doesn't get my vote (CARLTON COLD did, yes, in capital letters), is because at least it's trying to be something. Might not work for all, but whatever.

A beer that truly deserves a good, solid dissing (in my eyes) is Crown Bloody Lager. Middle-of-the-road, I-hope-nobody-notices-me, it-must-be-good-cause-it-costs-more CRAP ! The fact that it is charged at a premium beer price befuddles me. It is, without doubt, the merlot of the beer world (to reference the movie "Sideways").

hmph. i must say, its unfair for vb to be on this list. any australian appreciates its taste and cultural value. if youre going to put crap australian beers, please find out which are the bad ones.. namely tooheys reds, red bitter, and hahn premium light and cascade premium light-the reds being easily the worst

Yeah, it was a great flick Grab. Something about a guy that is THAT into an alcoholic drink that earns my respect

Aussie Homebrewer, you are totally right. VB is truly an Aussie icon and runs deep in the Aussie culture. Thing is, how bloody embarrasing. The Irish have their Guinness, the Flemish their Chimay, the Germans have their Weihenstephener (to name but one), hell, even the bloody Kiwi's have Steinlager. What do we get lumped with ? Fricken V Bloody B. P!sses me off hard, it does.

Not that Australia doesn't brew it's fair share of top drops, just that the masses don't drink em. The day that people think that a Coopers Sparkling is synonymous with Australia will be a great day in my eyes.

My conclusion, VB bashing is as healthy and as welcomed and as Australian as sledging in cricket whilst playing the Poms.

... and the Czechs have Pilsner Urquell and Budweiser Budvar, to name but two great pilsners.

G'day troops,
just got back from a couple of weeks in SA, had a couple of Southwarks while I was there, it certainly is not the best beer around but it still shits all over VB! The best part of the pubs in SA is that most of them have at least one sort of Coopers on tap and the full range in the frige.

The fact that most SA pubs haven't been ruined by pokies is another positive. Most pubs that do have pokies have not allowed them to destroy their souls. They just put the machines in a side room or out of the way, and don't feel the need to paint the joint pink and install carpet that makes you want to vomit (like Victorian pubs do without fail when they get pokies).

I though Pokie was Gumbies winger.

And Evo was giving me the gears about his pony

Ha !

Nice one Dogger. I actually have a Gumby and Pokey t-shirt. Back when I was a whipper snapper, Gumby used to freak the bejesus out of me. Not sure what it was, I think it was the way he moved.

Now that I'm an adult and have come to terms with my affliction, I wear it loud and proud. Actually scored because of that shirt one night, but that's another story entirely.

You are on the money there. Buggers me why people wanted them, like them and play them. :?:

Anyway can't say I'm as fussy as you guys when it comes to commercial beer- most of the stuff you are bagging is OK if drank VERY cold. So next time you are in a tight spot give that a go.

As for me, I voted for Bud- the less said about that the better. The 3 worst aussie beers i have been subjected to must be :
1. Southwark (didn't realise they made a premium- one normal one was enough to scare me off for life). Better known in classy circles as "The Green Death". As close to undrinkable as a beer can get.
2. Fosters. Drinkable only when desperate. "The Blue Death"
3. "EB" Emu Bitter.
Drinkable just, but what can I say as an "expat" in the west (thats North West actually) it made Red Cans (Emu Export) look pretty good!

I'd like to change my vote.
I voted carlton cold but i think i've found something worse - Ruddles County Ale... not sure if the bottle i had was 12yrs past its used by date (used by was missing) but it was vile.. cost $7 for a 500ml bottle & after 1 sip i had no hesitation in tipping it down the sink.. blergh.
now washing the bad taste away with monteiths pilsner.. mmm

Dunno if it's still available in uk.

Tepid cat's piss through a pair of soiled Y Fronts.

Singapore "Tiger", circa 1975 - tasted alright, but a jackhammer between the eyes the following day!

I'm told it's better now, but haven't been game to try.

In my wanderings in search of bottles I have noticed that the Tooheys Extra Dry stubbs are often discarded in a part full state. Even the VB stubbs are usually empty.

Is this a sign of how bad this crap is?

Yes.

The only bright side of that beer is there is nothing there to taste in the first place!

Can't believe Kokanee on that list.It may be a generic but it's a pretty good beer.Had many fine drinking sessions in south BC on the Kokanee.

Agree with other posters who shudder at Toohey's Red.eeerrrrggghhh(said in best sideshow bob voice).

Clearly Budweiser is a disgrace, can it even be classified as a beer?
