2 Can Draught

Post by Pom »

Hi guys. Thinking of cleaning out a few can from the cupboard and have two cans of Coopers Draught. One being the Thomas Coopers and the other the bog standard. Never made a brew with two cans before. Was thinking somthing like:

2 cans of Draught
500g Dex
500g LDME
250g Crystal
Saflager Yeast
20g of Hallertauer Hersbrucker dry hopped eith in primary and/or racking.
Steep crystal then boil with dex and ldme for 45, add to fermenter with cans, make up to 22 with chilled water, pitch yeast when gets down to 16-18c, chuck in dry hops.
Primary for 1 week then rack for a further 2, all in the fridge.
How does that sound for a simple 2 can.
Any advice or ideas most welcome.
Cheers rob

Pom.

Just my opinion of course but I wouldn't do a two can again. It was strongly flavoured but not especially nice.
I'd stay with your recipe on a single can or, ir you really want to taste a two can, make an 11 litre batch with one can. Less to worry about if you're not impressed with the taste.

Cheers, Geoff.

I reckon a simple 2 can draught with some candy sugar to make up gravity and dry Saaz or other noble hop fermented with a Belgian yeast in the style of a triple would be quite nice, and easy to do! Never tried it though...
Prost and happy brewing!
