BE2 solid as a rock!

Post by Liz E »

Anyone else having problems with Coopers Brew Enhancer 2? Since Coopers changed their packaging from sturdy plastic bag to Box + bag I've noticed some inconsistencies in the quality of the packaging/product. Initially the bags inside the box seems to be quite sticky on the outside, due no doubt to some overflow or breach of the bag inside. Coopers seemed to have fixed that problem about a year ago. But now I have two boxes of BE2 purchased within the last month and the contents of both are completely solid. They are definitely not in powder form any longer. Both have been packaged on 31 Jul '07. That does seem to indicate that they're quite old but as there is no used-by or BBD on the box I'm assuming that the Woolworths where I purchased them have no reason to remove them from the shelves. I plan to get them exchanged but wondered if any other K&K brewers have been having similar problems.

I haven't seen any BE2's that bad, a bit sticky on the out side of the box maybe but no problems with the mixture.

They seem very old to me and I would defiantly be taking them back to where you bought them from for a refund or exchange.

Hope you have better luck with the next lot.

I've never had any problems, but I think my local Woolworths turnover is pretty fast (thanks mainly to me!). Anna

Yeh, I'm hear'n ya.

Last week I had finished all my sterilising, put the hot water in, poured the can in, then opened the BE2, same deal....solid.

So I went with it anyway! it erroded pretty quick under the stream of water & fermented OK too.

Cheers, Mick.

Good to hear that you were able to use it Mick. I didn't wanna take the risk. Woolies exchanged both BE2's yesterday. The guy behind the counter was a Homebrewer too. He seemed surprised by the condition of the contents and rapped his knuckles on it to see exactly how solid it was. I picked up two new boxes, both appear to be fine but there is no mfg date or batch number anywhere on the packaging. Standards at Coopers may have slipped just a little lately.

Maybe they're moving into the fermenter drop market?
