My Dunkelweizen attempt

Post by timmy »

Hey all,

Just put this down last night - only a 12L batch

1.5kg Wheat Malt
1.5kg Munich Malt
100g Choc Malt
200g Cara Wheat
1 tbsp Cocoa Powder (added in mash)
8g POR (10.1%) @ 60mins

Mashed (BIAB) @ 65 deg for 2 hours

Cooled and pitched WB06.

Hoping for a chocolate-y dunkel similar to Jameison's Mountain Ale.

Will post back the results.

Cheers,

Tim

Looks interesting, but I'm a bit worried about 100 gr choc in a 12 litre batch.
I'm a fan of dunkelweizens.
Maybe next time, try choc wheat, rather than choc malt?
I used in my last dunkelweizen, 100 gr in a 23 litre batch. Turned out nice, but I used WY3068.

I see what you mean about the choc, but I based it on another DW recipe on AHB that used 200g of choc in a 23L batch....

We'll see how it goes.
