Coopers sell bulk packs of malt.

At Jovial Monk brew store here in Adelaide you can get 28kg of Coopers LME for $89, which is about $3.17 per kg if my calculator works.

On my latest price list from G&G.(bulk prices)
LDME - $5.50kg / DEX - $2.40kg. Working on 150ml per lt.
= .06c per 375ml(stubby) Not incl hops/yeast.
We want great beer not cheap beer.
Cheers Glenn

Try a Coopers Stout with a Coopers Dark Ale both yeasts to 22L. The CDA acts in place of the additional fermentables. It is a simple stout that really hits the spot on a cold night. All the white tins come with the same yeast.

Cheers,
Greg

I'd probably do 500g of malt and 500g of dark malt.
