See what I mean? You blokes just can`t help yourselves when an opportunity for a potshot comes up. Then the moaning starts when someone gets kicked in the head for doing it.
Just do as I do and go along quietly. It pays off, everyone loves me.
Joy to the world.

This is my life! I love brewing and reading these forums. If it gets a bit heated I just have a laugh, if it gets too heated I read the next post.

The purists can throw up their hands in horror all they like , but it`s a proven fact, folks. You don`t think the Colosseum lasted 300 years because the crowds wanted poetry, do you?
You're spot on, I love it when a "spirited debate" starts up.

And the bottom line, of course, is that the thread has had almost 3oo hits in about 30 hours.

hits aren't everything. of course you'll get people coming in for a look-see when there's a conflict of any kind, but it lowers the tone of the forum.

The banter around here is pretty pi$$ funny but it does get a bit dumb and personal occasionally.

I'll definately be reading , learning and contributing to the forum for now, but it's worth commenting also those who ONLY make dumb comments and don't contribute at all should question why they return to the forum, it doesn't seem like a good use of time - I mean there's plenty of other forums with easier-to-antagonise members...

1.Sometimes people are so devistated by a bad brew - happened to me.

2.We are all passonate about brewing beer and I think that such a collection of people so emotionly attatched to this pastime are prone to becoming emotive in disscusions hence being percieved as nasty.

My solution - I personaly have become a better person from brewing AG and am considering wearing a monk outfit while brewing.

Here it is my child,

There was a man who brewed beer from sugar and kit,
He wondered why his beers tasted like shi..,
He added some grain,
Thus expanding his brain,
So now he's contantly pi....

Well, you can see how it goes.

I agree with doc, there has been a few disappear over time.

I had heard through the grapevine that Spills had gone, plus he was not posting anymore, so that kind of gave it away

I've been a little quieter because
1. My daughter flogs my laptop when her computer dies
2. Been on holidays
3. Have been busy.
4. Questions are generally answered by the time I get on, by much more knowledgeable people I must add

Overall I still think that this forum still helps a lot of people, and I do not mind the "Banter" that occasionally happens.

I am not afraid to ask questions on this site. I know in the past there have been quite a few new starters who have had their First Post sledged for a Novel idea, which is a bit harsh especially when first starting out.........BUT, of late the posts to first timers has been extremely helpful and polite.

So in summary, if we all try to ignore silly posts and refrain from carrying on like knobs from time to time, it will improve.

Honestly, I think that this site has improved to what it was about 6-8 months ago when there was a truckload of sledging going on.

Cheers

Boonie

Edit....Sorry that the post was a little long, I was on a roll 8)

Boonie...........you are a champion. Not a half bad bloke for a banker either. (I worked in insurance for 43 years, so we must have been members of the same union, ie the Financal Sector Union?) Don't underestimate your contribution to this forum. You will forever be known as the passer on of the famous Boonies' LCPA clone.

I don't think Doc was having a shot, I think he was just pointing out the difference of the two (c)Chris' in terms of grammar.

Does your priest next door still love you?? :P

Geez, I hope it was you with the priest otherwise it is a bloody stupid post

That I did, and lawyers used to get it as well until sometime into the 1980's.
