I take back everything I said about this beer. It is absolute crap. I made the mistake of buying a six-pack earlier today (based on my previous comments and recollections).
I now have four to drink.
However, as has been pointed out, it would make a good paint stripper.
I'm currently painting my fence, so I might not have done so badly ...
Lucky I bought a sixer of Budweiser Budvar at the same time

The missus gave me some money to buy a slab of commercial beer for when we have guests (She's worried my homebrew isn't everyone's cup of tea, and that my 6% beers will get some unsuspecting driver killed), saw the VB Original for $34 and thought why not, at least I'll get these decent bottles out of it for the HB. Had to try one just to know what I would be serving our future guests.
Thank God It's not for me. Everytime someone comes to my place and I hand them a beer I will be overcome with a deep shame. At least I'm not going to have to drink it. Gave two to a mate yesterday. Only 15 more to go. Found out when I got home that it was only a case of 18! Ripped off. Can we complain to the department of Fair Trading or someone about this crap?

Just a question..
If you guys didn't know it was from CUB and it didnt have a VB sticker on the label, would you think otherwise?
IMO, it isnt the best beer I've tried but it isnt bad at all.

I found the first stubby went down ok, but the second stubb never tasted quite right.

Went round to a mates place for a guitar lesson and I take brew one week and he supplies beer the next.
We had to drink 3 each and all I can say is it is drinkable, but not my cup of tea. I have had worse, but there are definately a lot of better ones out there.

I thnk its pretty damn foul.
My cousin gets a rash if he drinks VB. This gave him the mega rash of all rashes. All the guys from the footy team didn't believe it until they seen this.

If it didn't have VB on the label and I didn't know it was brewed by CUB/Foster's, I'd still think it was a terrible beer.
It just tastes disgusting, in my opinion.

PoR aka Pride of Ringwood, gets some very bad press from the chatter of those apes who feel themselves cultured over here. It is not noble hop I grant you that, but what is the problem, apart from the fact that CUB uses it? DAB from Dortmund in Germany also use it and make a big thing about it.
In fact PoR was one of the first high alpha hops bred in the world, back in th 50's. It has a spiciness that I find not dissimilar to Tettnager.
The blandness of CUB product has everything to do with the market and very little to do with the hop, given the very low IBU of the CUB beer do you really think that if they bittered it with extract of Northern Brewer it would be all that different, and, critically, could you tell the difference?
