fstbttms,
The Holden Monaro is the car we export to America as a Pontiac I believe, England as a Vauxhall Monaro and a few other places as well I think.

Holden is Australian as Vegemite used to be before the seppos bought 'em out. (Vegemite that is)

Which is quickest?

Holden and Vegemite... still about as Australian as one another... Ford Australia enjoys more autonomy than Holden IIRC...

Anyway, I like my Henries, owned more of them than anything else.

Over what distance?

Inside the first 3 quarters of a kay, just leg it. Time saved getting car/pushy out then parking etc kills it.

Over three or four kays the treadlies ability to manuever through a line of traffic etc wins. Treadly is also limited in load carrying ability, even walking may be a better option sometimes.

More than that get in the car.

Cheers,
Greg

Ford or holden or anything else.

Mark,

Here in Melbourne, I reckon 90 per cent plus of cabs are Ford Falcons and Fairlanes. The other 10 per cent are made up mostly of Holden Commodores and Statesmans, with a few Toyota Avalons and minibuses/vans thrown in.

Apparently Holden no longer does a "taxi pack" Commodore as there's not much money in it, which pretty much leaves the market to Ford.

In any case, from what I've been told by cab drivers they don't think much of the drivetrain of the Commodore and its reliability. (Before anyone bites my head off, this is just what I've been told by cabbies.)

Cheers,

Oliver
