Big W currently has them around the $50 dollar mark. Prior to Big W stocking them, the Lion Nathan/Malt Shovel websites were stocking them for around $90, little wonder they've reduced the price now.

I guess the main difference between this and any other starter is that the fermenter is around 12 - 15 litres, so half the size of a normal fermenter. Also, the fermenter has a slightly conical-shaped bottom which is meant to help in separating the sediment.

The other thing to bear in mind, Lebowski, is they are a non-standard size, ie you will not be able to brew a Coopers kit in them, and the product itself has had some mixed reviews.

Ah thanks for the info, I didnt notice the site mention they where 15L.
Tooheys kit looks the better option then for the same price.

i bought one of these when i first got into homebrew , it is good for malt shovel products , but other than that its too small , plus the tap stuffed up , wilst cleaning it and i couldnt get spares as the tap size is different to other taps . so now its a dust piece .

I own one! Use it as much for MSB kits as i do for tester kits and racking :D
