How long?

Brewers,

Out of interest has anyone ever been able to keep their bottled beer long enough to give one a go after it has been hidden away for a year or more? And more to the point how did it go down? From experience does anyone have any ideas on how long beer can be kept in order to taste a distinct improvement in the beers flavour?

All replies appreciated.

Oliver and Geoff have one they are planning to go 100 years.

I have an 11 year old Maudite and a 15 year old Bock, so when they get to 100 mine will be 10 years older

I must admit, I wasn't fond of either one young. Seem to be getting better now though

I've had some when they are around the two years old. They were good.

I find that age tends to smooth the beers, dominant characters settle down and the beer just seems more balanced.

Cheers,

Greg.

The oldest I've had was an Old (created from the can). It was 7 years old.
I had tasted it at 2 and 5 years and it got better as it aged. I ran out of them at 7.

Currently I have some at 2 1/2 years trying to save them till they are 21.

Cheers Nicor

Sorry, Greg, I didn't even realise that old post was started by you

I just remembered that there had been something similar a while ago.
