What to drink?

Post by Balls »

I'm heading over to Bali next week and other than Bintang and Aussie commercial brews, what other beers will be available? Cheers

Balls,

Aside from Bintang, you can get Bali Hai, which IMHO is a vastly inferior local drop compared to Bintang.
The usual imported beers such as Heineken, Carlsberg, Guinness, are readily available.

Stick with the Bintang, it's very cheap and very good.

Thanks for the reply BB, whenever I go interstate or overseas I'm always keen to try the local drop. If it's only average I then know that there will be something to fall back on! Cheers

There's also Anchor which is quite nice. The Guinness is locally brewed and is sweeter than what we get here in Australia.

Well, made it back and in one piece. You were right BB about the Bintang being very cheap (1.50AUS) for a big bottle and very drinkable. You could end up with a big drinking problem if you lived over there

Welcome back!
Can you still get market Arrak?
I love Bali and will miss going there with all the trouble they are having with the radicals.
Sorry to hear about the victims and the newcastle crew of the recent attacks.
It always was the indonesians outside of Bali that caused any trouble.
How was it? Last time I was there was in 1998....

Thanks, yep the Arrak is great stuff to get you going. Around AUS$7.00 a bottle. Major hangover gear. I was drinking it with lime juice, soda and crushed ice mmmmm. All the Balanese are wonderful, very hospitable but I think this will be worse for them than the 1st bombing. They will have major problems getting over this.

mmm Arrak that was nasty. Great going down though I remember one night being able to speak fluent German with some German girls.
I woke up not in my losman and had to return to the bar to find some lost clothing. The bar staff just laughed at me and gave me water!
I didn't touch the stuff after that.
.
Cheers
