Beginner's question-Airlock

Post by johnny_boy »

Hey all,
firstly, cheers to scblack for putting me onto this site! Ive just put down my first brew, just a coopers pale. I'm a little worried though, there has been no bubbling through the airlock. When should this start? Is it constant? If there is no bubbling by now (12hrs after start), does it mean there is an air leak somewhere?
cheers

It's been pretty cool in Melbourne for the last couple of days... you might not see any activity for several days.

The yeast with a Cooper's Pale is a lager/ale blend, so it should be fermenting even if it's fairly cool.

Look for the telltale signs of fermentation such as condensation on the inside of the lid, a bit of scum forming up the side of the fermenter and sediment forming in the base of the fermenter.
