more wheat questions

Post by tommo »

g'day all,

do wheat beers take longer to ferment ?

i put a morgans kit down last sat 24th, checked it this morning, the airlock still has moderate activity and the krausen is about 20mm deep

morgans kit 1.7kg
morgans wheat malt 1.0kg
p c s 250gm
SAFwheat K97
23 lt
temp @ 21* approx

not overly concerned but i would have liked to rack this weekend and i remember reading ( Dogger ) that it's not a good idea to do so until the krausen ( yeast cap ? ) drops.

also, is this temp ok for this yeast ?

c i a

yes.. but my point is this has now been 8 days with no sign of the cap dropping and i would like to rack before i head off for another week.

Would it be ok to gently stir it in, let it settle for 6hrs or so and then rack ?

Or is this risking an infection. :(

cheers

You have my sympathy Grabman- :( :( well I remember living in the West when at State of Origin time they (that's GWN) would (out of shear bloody mindedness I'm sure) put some third rate Yank show on in order to show the footy at 10.30. Evil buggers. :x

I am saying nothing about tonight's game, as requested.

Probably showing Gay Fl. Sorry all you GayFL luva's. But please stop calling your game football, there is only one true football and that is soccer or wog ball and I don't mean to offend anybody by that. I don't mind a good game of AFL. But the only true football is soccer, not Rugby League, Rugby Union or GayFl and I'm a Rugby League person. While I'm here has anybody got a U-Bute Redback Recipe I can Try.

Soccer is just wogball - no one else really gives a shit.

I played league until I was 15, and old enough to know a better game - Rugby Union, which requires more than just "hit it up for five and kick."

As for a Redback recipe - here's one I've now got brewing, so I can't vouch for it yet, but AussieClaret says it's great.

Morgans Wheat beer
Morgans Master Blend Beer Enhancer
500g Dextrose
12g Hallertau hops.

I don't understand this elitism among soccer fans. Why can't Australian rules or rugby league be football, too?

Those games might use their hands, but in soccer you can use everything but your hands and it's still called football. Maybe soccer should be called bodyball ... :) Or headball.
