is there any good homebrew books around that are worth reading?

I'm off on a road trip on monday and a homebrew book would be a perfect addition to my novel!

I have this week been searching for Charlie Papazians book and Designing Great Beers. I have tried 9 bookshops (some of them the biggest in the City) and not been able to find it. I resorted to the Internets and placed an order.

In not one single shop did I see either of the two I already have (and recomend) or the ones I wanted. Alas it seems HB books are a bit thin on the ground in most shops.

Cheers,
Greg.

i went to the good old ACT public library and found a pretty good book called "home brewing in australia" by Laurie Strachan.

I've only skimmed through it so far but it seems pretty good. Very simple and matter of fact.

I reccomend you canberra boys check it out after me.

Most of it i knew or had heard of but its just good to read it in one book.

One feels more authorative on the subject if one quotes from a book, too.

Try Amazon they have heaps of brewing and general beer books and most with postage and exchange rate are still cheaper than buying them locally. I have ordered four books from them and have not had a problem. They take about 7-8 weeks to arrive.
