Coopers light malt extract.

Post by wiggins »

I bought a packet of this malt extract the other day and after reading the side panel was slightly miffed at what it suggested as per alcohol content. It gave only 0.9 % alcohol for 500 grams,is this true or a missprint at coopers?

In a 23 ltrs of water 500gms Light Dry Malt would give you an OG of about 1008. If this fermented to 1001 you would have about 0.9% alcahol.

That table in the Coopers packet of 0.9% seems Ok.

Cheers,

Sounds ok to me, 6 times that (ie. 3kgs of ME to 23L) gives 5.4%. Given that I typically get 4-5% out of my 3kgs of ME that sounds about right.
