Tooheys Lager

Post by Punter »

A mate brought round a can of this stuff on Sat. and asked me to brew it for him. I have never brewed this one before, so threw in a couple of extra bits and pieces. The recipe goes like this:
Tooheys special lager 1.7kg
carapils 200gm- steeped
crystal 150gm - steeped
LDM 250gm
Dex 250gm
EKG- 10gm- 45min
EKG - 10gm- 30min
EKG - 10gm - 15min
EKG - 10gm dry hopped in primary
Sg 1.030
2 pack Saflager starter pitched at 24c
now fermenting at 12c
hopefully this will turn out ok, expecting a mid strength beer.
Has anyone any ideas how this will taste? Not bad from hydro sample.

I have brewed the Tooheys Lager several times but only with 1 kg LDME and adding a hallertau hop tea bag. Turned out to be a very drinkable brew.

Does that involve placing the fermenter in a tree and performing a rain dance? Confused... This should be in the FAQ :)
