Hang-over, not happy.

Post by General »

I have just had my first hangover in over a year of brewing!

I've drank from this very same batch without problems, but last night, I don't know, I got a hangover this morning.

I always get hungover from any alcohol. If I go to sleep even a little tipsy I'll wake up slightly hungover.

yeah wierd!

I've found that usually my brews don't make me the slightest bit crook, but the last couple of batches, which are different, have sat me on my arse and made the morning less than bearable...maybe we're getting old?

I can feel a bit ordinary the next morning from drinking homebrew, but nowhere near as bad if I'd drunk, say, VB all night.

But VB makes you want to vomit the same night after the first mouthful. So it's not really a good comparison.

Yeah, you can get hang overs from homebrew, but you've got to work harder at it, and they go away alot more easily too.

i think the same as greg !!!! i must say i drank commercial brew for years's, I tried my best , it felt like a mack truck hitting you in the morning or avo ??, tho when i brew HB , and i give it a good nudge, The damage i receive is know where the same !!!! .

Also i had a operations in my mouth say 14 year's ago, And when ever i drank commercial beer , the next morning or two my mouth would be sore around the scare and flaking, which would be 3 times a week !!

i solved the problem, by HB, Since i started to HB brew my own , i have noticed the flaking had stopped !!!. I will not go back !!!!!!!!!!!.

I read somewhere on the net last week that "chasers" (or Chasers... something) is REALLY good for hangovers.
I think you take the tablet whilst drinking & wake up fresh as a daisy.

Dunno if you can buy it in Australia, but have seen it on eBay for around US$30 a jar.

Do a google on it if u r a serious drinker of any type.

Alcadol has worked for me in the past.

Also see: http://www.homebrewandbeer.com/forum/vi ... .php?t=880 for a hang over cure thread.

the yeast left in home brew is meant to account for the Vit B leaching effect of alcohol, so just drink plenty of water to account for the dehydration aspect. winnar!

vit B tablet & 1l of water before bed negated the hangover expected after 1/2 carton of commercial swill for me.

haven't had a hangover from home brew yet, but then I always drink stupid amounts of water regardless & have only had 2 tallies in a single sitting thus far, being a home brew noob & all.

In 'Complete Joy of Homebrewing' (I think) Papazian devotes a chapter to hangovers and homebrew. I'll dig it out when I have a bit more time.

I've had times where I have drunk myself incomprehensible on HB and been great the next day. Other times I've had 3 longs, and felt weird the next day.

I have never felt even close to how I used to be the next day after commercial swill.

If you feel it the next day, go the Oporto chilli chicken burger.

The best hangover cure I know is a meat pie and a can of diet coke. The pie gives you a fat infusion and the gas in the diet coke takes away the queeziness.

Or the dreaded large Big Mac set with a cheeseburger thrown in.

It is Appendix 4.

The last paragraph is titled 'Magic?' and is as follows:

"Yeast produces alcohol. When we consume alcohol it destroys our body's store of the vitamin B complex. The yeast that made the alcohol that depletes the vitamin B complex replenishes the vitamin B complex. Think about that. Isn't this part of the magic we are all involved in?"

Cheers,
Greg
