i was making my second brew tonight wen in my drunkeness i dropped some plastic in the wort and couldnt get the fuckin thing out so after 10 mins or so i gave up and screwed the lid on do u think that the plastic that had like a tinfoil looking coating on one side could f---/infect the brew??
also with my first brew it smelt abit iffy like wine almost and on the bottom there was a thick sludge of grey crap now i know theres ment to be a yeast layer on the bottom but i wasnt expecting the yeast to be grey and slimy or is this the norm??
I once did a similar thing, but managed to get it out. If it was clean you probably have minimal chance of infection, but I'd say you have still increased you chances. Now that you are sober you could sanisie a spoon and pull it out if you are worried. I'd just play it out and see what happenes.
I also had the grey slime in my first brew. my one and only kit brew (Cooper's PA??), and I haven't had it since. The beer was fine and at the time I thought it must be a hot break (i boiled that kit) but now that I'm a little more learned (and know what a hot break looks like) I'm not so sure. The bottom line is that I don't think you need to worry about it, it's settling out so it's not in you beer.

Sounds like trub. I wouldn't worry about it. I wouldn't open your fermenter just for that plastic thing. If it was going to infect your beer, I can assure that that it already has.
Relax and have a beer. Your homebrew should be fine.
I had a similar experience with my first beer, when I managed to push the rubber grommet from the airlock into the fermenter. I was worried sick, but now realise I was worrying about nothing. The beer was fine.
