Bottlers re-accuring nightmare

Post by The Carbonator »

So, you crack a longneck and pour out a beer, drink it, then you go to bed.

Then, the next day you see the half full bottle in the fridge and think " It's still good ".

Obviously, you pour it out and drink it.

Thats when you think " I coulda drunk that fresh!!! "

That's one of the the things I like about homebrew. You can ressurect a half drunk beer the next night. Try that with commercial beer!

I use stubbies (330, 354 or 375 ml). Open & pour into 425ml glass, enough room for head, all good.

Twice the effort when bottling though. :(

Should we all keg it instead?

Sorry Carbonator, i don't see the problem.

You get out a longneck, your pour it into a glass, you empty said glass and refill, drink it and do same several times during the evening. you are left with empties that you rinse and put away in your stash.

Everything is hunky dory. I have shivers at the thought of not finishing a job and leaving it half done! Opening a bottle and not finishing it......SACRILEGE.

I must admit after a few too many I am usually left with one half full.

I have one of those bottle resealer things, $2.50 or so from the hombrew shop. It doesn't keep the half-longneck completely carbonated, but it's better than nothing.

Velophile is right, stubbies are good!

- Only want to have a stubby? No problems, you've bottled in stubbies.

- Want a longneck? no problems, two 375mL stubbies equals a longneck

- Want 1.5 longnecks? duh, THREE STUBBIES

- Want to drink 1.5L and sample 4 different homebrews? FOUR STUBBIES

and by far the biggest reason:

- Stubbies = more bottling time over longnecks
- more bottling time = more compulsary homebrew drinking time.

That said, I do use some longnecks. Most of my brews I do a slab of stubbies and make the rest up with longnecks.
