Avoiding Beer Guts

Post by thisispants »

How so you guys do it?

Sure, it's great fun making beer, but then to keep the bottles turning over ... you have to drink it.

Please explain. My girlfriend will thankyou!

Regular exercise and a reasonably sensible diet.

Was also discussed previously in General Discussion/Beer Gut

Eat less, move more.
There is no such thing as bad beer. There is only good beer and better beer.

But I put so much mental energy (ie excersise) into brewing that I'm sure it'll even out!

Beer has less calories than skim milk. It's the food you eat with it.

energy in v energy out.

Yeah but you don't normally drink 4.5 litres of skim milk on a Saturday. :P

Aside from the calories I believe the alcohol has a negative effect on metabolism etc. so there are other effects. The residual sugars would be of little consequence though.

Spot on Pale-Ale - its has a huge effect on metabolism, it basically stops it while the body concentrates 100% on removing the alcohol (poison) from the system which is why when you eat while drinking it has a big time positive effect on your waistline.....

Yet another reason why eating is cheating!

I find that looking at pictures of Natalie Portman undressed, helps keep the weight off as well. :P

G'day thisispants,

I blew out from a healthy (Very skinny from sport) 58kgs  , to a healthy and rotund 76 kgs. "No my beautiful wife, it's not the beer, it's the smokes I gave up" . yeah right.

I am now at 69kgs after some walking every day, and not eating Smiths Chips with my beer...... plus the pie and sausage rolls for lunch.

I have found that if I do not eat as much crap for lunch, I lose a little bit every week.

One more tip, get more bottles then you do not have to turn over so many and you have a greater variety of beers and have fun making the different styles.

Cheers

Boonie
