Could I humbly seek your views/suggestions on the following recipe I just put together:
1 can Whispering Wheat
1.5kg Liquid Wheat Malt
250g dry wheat malt
500g carapils, steepd
200g honey
14g coriander
2g cardamon (pods, just enough to introduce spice)
12g Pride of Ringwood, early in the boil
25g Saaz, late in the boil
K97 Safwheat
Extras (coriander, cardamon, boiled for 15 minutes)
What do you think of this wheatie?

FWIW, I did a few wheats last summer with 25g. coriander in each and after a few weeks in the bottle, it had really faded. The recipe looks good though, my rec. is to drink your wheat beer while it`s young and fresh, don`t age it.
You shouldn`t have any problems keeping a head on it with 500g.Carapils, that`s for sure.

Looks good. Could maybe cut back on the carapils.

Funnily enough I just discovered the joy of priming with Dextrose - great head on beer, every time!ryan wrote:You shouldn`t have any problems keeping a head on it with 500g.Carapils, that`s for sure.
However, this time I think I'll prime this one with glucose. What do you think?
And, how 'bout 250g of the carapils?

Well, I`d agree with Chris. on the Carapils. 200-250g.should do you, anything over that would be overkill. But that`s just what I`d use in it, others may not agree.
As for priming, countless fellas have reported no difference at all in the finished product after using different primers. I believe it.

As far as i know glucose and dextrose are practically the same thing so im pretty sure that there wouldnt be much if any differenceDanzar wrote:Funnily enough I just discovered the joy of priming with Dextrose - great head on beer, every time!ryan wrote:You shouldn`t have any problems keeping a head on it with 500g.Carapils, that`s for sure.

Good stuff Lethal - was hoping for that answer. Ryan - have you had a go at priming with dextrose (you may already have
).
I find that, while it carbs slower, you get a much finer bubble (they're tiny in fact) compared to standard sugar. When you pour, your head forms slowly but is much more compact, aiding in retention.
With sugar, when you pour, the bubbles are larger, your heads forms quickly and disappears just as quickly.
