Hi guys,
when adding honey to an extract brew, should it be boiled before adding.
If so, for how long?
Cheers

How do you get the honey taste to stay in the beer?
None of my honey beers taste have ended up with a honey taste.
I'm assuming that the honey flavour has been converted by the yeast?
Should I be using a particular yeast. Maybe Safale isn't the right choice to retain the flavour?
As a backgrounder:
I've used honey several times.
In the original wort mix (500g) or as a primer (200g bulk).
I've also added it straight (no boil) and added it boiled.

beer krout, have you tried different brands/types of honey?.. i've tried 4-5 different types and brands & have found that 500gms of beechworth honey is noticable.. as is 500gms of archibalds orange blossom (both i found in woolworths).. both impart quite different flavours.
the last honey beer i made i thought i'd try 500gms of each, steeped in the hot wort for 10mins before cooling, & the honey taste is very intense.. i think i've over honeyed

I used 500g of Beechworth Iron Bark. Maybe I over hopped that one with Hallertau. It may be blinding me to the taste of the honey.
I guess my only reference for a honey beer is Beez Neez.
Which, whatever you think about it, does have a distinct honey taste.
I'm thinking of trying the popular Dogger Canadian Blonde with 250g of Genuine Canadian Maple syrup. I'm guessing I'll be able to taste that.

Looking at my notes.
It was a:
James Squire Summer Wheat Kit x2
Beechworth Red Gum Honey 500g
Ground Cinnamon 3 tbls
Hallertau (10g 15mins + 10g another 15 mins + 5g dry hopped)
James Squire German Wheat Yeast x2
Then I spilt 15 litres on the ground racking it <the horror>.
Maybe this over hopped it.
It has a very citrusy taste. But not much honey.
