Anybody tried brewing in 50L CUB/Tooheys keg before? Any suggestions/instructions. I used to know a bloke who brewd in them, just never cared to ask how. His brew tasted pretty good too as I remember!
Hate to burst your bubble, but technically thats illegal, since the kegs are most likely still owned by CUB. Although chances of getting caught with one is slim, CUB was recently cracking down on the matter, going after a few people who sold there kegs on ebay. Your best bet is to find a brewery that has gone broke or was closed, as then the kegs are not owned by anyone and your nice and safe regardless
If you bought they will have to take it from my cold dead hand

Jasn.
Rob is right.
It is a bit like milk crates and bread crates. everyone has them. Brewers espcially like milk crates. when the legal owners do find them they pursue the matter very hard through the courts, simply because they loose thousands. Simialr to pirate CD's videos etc.
But if you talk to them and they give you one it isn't

When you say your mate "brewed in them" do you mean he fermented in them or dispensed from them ?
Either way, and legalities aside, it would be more expensive and much more of a hassle to "brew" in a CUB keg than it would be to go and buy a carboy. What are they ? About $30 ? With the keg you've gotta get it plasma cut / welded and modified. Unless you had the gear and the nouse to do it yourself. But if you did, you probably wouldn't be asking us.
