IPA Hopping?

Post by gazpachos0up »

Hi all, I'm doing my usual trip to the brew shop tomorrow after work (yay for Fridays) planning on putting down a India Pale Ale.
I'm going to buy a Black rock can, wondering what hops would be best if any, and also what brewing sugars to use. I don't want it to over power the taste of the IPA just more of a aroma hops.

any help would be muchly appreciated.

Kit:
- Coopers India Pale Ale (IBU 23.5) or Coopers Pale Ale kit (IBU 19)

Additional Fermentables:
- 3kg Light Dry Malt Extract

Additional Hops:
40g Challenger at 60 minutes
25g Goldings at 15 minutes
25g Goldings at 5 minutes
Target IBU: 60

Replacement Yeast:
- 1 or 2 sachets of Safale S-04

Method:
1. Borrow Rob's big pot.
2. 2/3 fill put with water, add LDME. Bring to a light boil. Add first lot of Cascade hops, boil for 30 minutes. Add second lot of Cascade, boil for another 20 minutes. Add third lot of Cascade, boil for another 10 minutes. Add fourth lot of Cascade and remove from heat.
3. Add the Pale Ale kit, dissolve. Cool wort to arount 50°C, add to fermenter, top up to 23L. Aerate the wort by stirring it briskly.
4. Pitch yeast.
Sounds good, but where's the cascade from??
