Hiya fellow brewers , I'm thinking of putting together a Choc honey porter and had this recipe in my head . Let me know what you think and if i should modify any portion .
Cascade choc porter kit
400gm yellow box honey
200gm crystal malt (steeped for 30 mins)
100gm choc malt (steeped for 30 mins )
1kg LDME
300gm beer body (70% dex 30% corn syrup) or alternatively
500gm dry wheat malt ?
30gms goldings hops 45min boil
8gms hallertaur 20min boil
8gms hallertaur 5min boil
This will be my first attempt at a porter , I've brewed about 6 or 7 stouts with the last cpl turning out magnificent but a porter is a strange one . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

Chocolate honey porter
GO HARD OR GO HOME
Hallertau (german hop) in a porter (english beer)?
If it was me i would swap the hallertau for fuggles (or more goldings) and scrap the beer body/wheat malt idea. Double the choc malt and if you really want to add a little something, 50g of roast barley. Not really meant to be in a porter, more of a stout thing but i reckon it adds that little extra complexity to the porter.
You could also start with a cooper lager kit and then up the choc malt to 400-500g. Mmmmmmmmm!
Have fun!
Cheers
