Kepping glasses clean

What is the best way to keep drinking glasses clean? I currently just wash them out under the hot tap and occasionally sterilise them.
My beer doe not keep its head. It used to but not for ages. I just use a Cascade kit and don't add anything extra. The bottles I use have been around for years - most of them - whether or not that provides any clues.
Any help that anyone could give me, is appreciated.
