Hi all,
Had a few of these when I was down in Tassie last week (after I did the Boags tour). It's meant to be an English style pale ale and isn't too bad. They dry hop with EK Goldings and the aroma is quite nice. Apparently they are/will be trying to grow Goldings in Tassie for this brew. The current batch is a once-off to see how it goes. Not sure if it's available on the mainland or how much will be available but definately worth a try IMO.
btw - Has anyone done the Boags factory tour recently? I was a bit underwhelmed after the great tour that Cascade do. Especially since I think I knew more about brewing than the guide...
Cheers,
Tim
Boags Wizard Smith
There was an article on the Wizard Smith's Ale in yesterdays Herald Sun. I might chase up a six pack and give them a try. Are they being sold at premium beer prices or megaswill prices?
"Doc, what can I do about these terrible hangovers?"
'You can stop drinking beer'
"No, seriously Doc, what can I do?"

i think its too thin, to what id thought it be, shouldnt an english ale be thicker to the pallete??
shouldnt it have some weight to it or am i wrong?

You had me at dry hopping.
I'm with Buscador and Timmy on this one. Even though it says all malt, it tastes very thin. The Goldings is definitely there but its lacking in the malt department. As Boonie said its aimed at VB and Tooheys drinkers and its a lot better than those megaswills. If it gets them to try something else then its a good thing IMHO. I won't be rushing to buy it again though.
