Coopers Sparkling Ale
Coopers Sparkling Ale
Well got a case of Pale on SPecial on Sunday and now find Woolies have Sparkling Ale on special for $36 a case of stubbies.
It's going to be a hard task, but I'll just have to drink them and thank the beer gods for such cheap beer.

Can anyone explain why at Canberra IGA (local liquor), that CSA costs less than CPA? That makes no sense. Yet 6-packs of CSA are more expensive than 6's of CPA
And what is even more strange is that longnecks of CSA are more expensive than buying 2 stubbies...
I'll just keep buying the CSA stubbies at this rate.

A beer in the hand is worth two in George Bush...

The reason is often because of specials - the retailers will take a loss or break even on a product to attract customers.Chris wrote:Can anyone explain why at Canberra IGA (local liquor), that CSA costs less than CPA? That makes no sense. Yet 6-packs of CSA are more expensive than 6's of CPA

Pale has also jumped lately with prices reaching as much as $40 is Adelaide, which is just crazy. Sparkling is normally $38-$40 so I guess it might just be supply and demand at the moment
Coopers.
Yes, barley prices are rising incrementally as we struggle to produce enough of it economically.rwh wrote:Don't forget the effect of increasing world prices for barley and hops. I understand that Barley is going up due to drought in Aus and storms in Europe, whereas hops is this year coming to the end of a 15 year oversupply, with demand again outstripping production.
Water plays a huge part, primarily for crop feeding which affects grain price but as a secondary I dare say the breweries are paying more for fresh water now.
Coopers.
Dan Murphys have the pale ale stubbies on special atm for ~ $40
but the buggers still wanna charge me $43 for tallies.
It's a disgrace the price of beer under this dictatorship,
heaps of imports come in for less then $40,
Lowenbrau, Peroni - et aliae.
Course, the uneducated are probably happy paying ~ $40 for VB
and other mega swill.
cheers

Actually the last rise was due to yet another ise in the alcohol tax, from Johnny Howard, which drove up beer prices and the average schooner in pubs went up another 10c average.
Let hope he doesn't stay in tonight. We are already the most over taxed nation on the planet.
p.s. As you can guess, Howard didn't get my vote today.

Who ever said nothing was impossible, never tried to slam a revolving door....
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, guys, you're forgetting that President Paul (Keating) was the one that brought in excise rises in line with inflation.
Also under the last labour government we had interest rates of around 10 to 15% and under Bob Hawke at around 20%.
Also we ahd a record unemployment and lots of union standovers and strikes.
Good reasons to drink beer. HERE'S TO THEN GOOD OLD DAYS!!!!!!
At leastn home brew will still be a cheap option and I'll still enjoy my beer.....until they tax it as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And while your dwelling on the past facts that the liberal parties campain has obviously drummed into your head, you might want to look up which governemnt has had the highest interest rates since WW2, and who the treasurer was. I'll give you a hint on who the treasuruer was. He just lost the election on the weekend, and he got interest rates up to 22%.Wassa wrote:Also under the last labour government we had interest rates of around 10 to 15% and under Bob Hawke at around 20%.

Isnt it interesting to see conversation about 2 parties only. Dunno about you lot but my ballot paper had 6 boxes on it........ and i was handing out how to vote cards for one of the other 4 parties on the ballot.... Its just a pity that 90+% of aussies cant get their heads around such a simple concept.
As for $36 for CSA, thats a bargain any day of the week (just to drag this thread kicking and screaming back on topic.....)
