I have the occasional look online at "The Beer Store" as a reference point. Noticed yesterday they have an announcement on their home page saying that "due to high demand over the Christmas season we cannot accept any new orders until Jan2, 2008".
Now I may be cynical but I would suggest that any business that can afford a virtual shutdown at what should be the busiest and therefore most profitable time of the year (a) charges too much the rest of the year to fund the shut down and (b) is not deserving of future custom.
Can you imagine Harvey Norman or Woolworths closing up now and coming back in January.
Jokers.
Are these blokes fair dinkum

No, I think what they do is encourage you to order your Christmas supplies earlier in the year. That way they can budget for staff and order the beer necessary to have it delivered on time for Christmas. They probably would have advertised a cut off date for all orders that were required to be delivered before the new year.
I have never been to the website myself. This just sounds like a reasonable thing for a buisness to do in a time where they would be swamped with customers and orders.
