Just venting my frustration

Post by Old Gil »

What the hell has happened to the cricket? And when should we expect our, no, all the batsmen in the game to come back and actually play, well, cricket. Did anyone watch the game last night? I mean I'm glad we won but what a pathetic effort from batsmen on both sides. Yes the bowling was exceptional but there are also exceptional batsmen in both teams. Anyway that's my 2 cents. Oh and did Gilly do any damage to his thumb? I haven't heard anything. That would be a shame for the poor bloke.

I must agree Swainy, Pup seems to be the only Aussie batsman that has been able to keep any sort of form through the tour. The rest have been anything but reliable, and some downright shocking! India has had a few major collapses, during the test series, this ODI series and also the twenty20 match and this is the only reason the Aussies do not look like fools ATM. The bowling has been lead by Brett Lee in excellent fashion, and certainly deserves credit for a portion of the success. The following story certainly makes you wonder...

PS: Gilly is fine AFAIK and how funny is the acting of some of the players (Punter and Roy most of all) in those Ads they have been running non-stop?

Yeah, I love the multvite one. Punter looks like such a tosser in that one  I actually played games of indoor against Pup when he was only about 15. You could tell then that he was gonna go places. He was always a bit stuck up though cause he was that good he could play against the adult teams and kick butt, and he's old man owned the centre (so all he ever done was play cricket). But who cares as long as he keeps up the good work

I think it will take Sri Lanka winning the series before India and ourselves field a cricket team rather than 11 cricket players. I have seen many a selfish flippant play from both sides this Summer and keep asking myself why no one does anything about it. Not to mention the controversy off the field with the sledging (which is part of any sport), immanent retirement of past greats, and harsh criticism of the media. I think we need to have a look at who should be there and who wants to be there, then decide who will be there if we do end up going to Pakistan.

Once I saw 4/64, I turned it off, and didn't look back. Amazed that we won.

The only decent part of the whole game was the partnership between Pup and George... That lasted all of an hour tops?

Anyway my point is, you did not miss much, and I felt a bit ripped off at the end of it all.

I used to be a fast bowler and I am loving this :D

All the batters have struggled and Gilly was blaming the pitches after the match last night. He does not mince words so I tend to believe him. He even stated that the WA wicket was a bit up and down, mind you he may have been bragging cause he got a ton.

Thank God Pup did not pull out injured and they gave Sachin out, when he was not, otherwise we were screwed.

IMO, you cannot expect 250+ every game. The Windies were the only ones who used to score that high  .

I think that the Twenty20 games have lifted our expectations. Much like ODI's raised them in test cricket.

We expect a minimum of 4 RPO in test and 5 in ODI's and 9RPO in Twenty20.

I am just happy to sit back and watch Gilly for one final tour.

Punter is struggling.....maybe he should shave off his yeah yeah hair. Bradman was bald, how good was he :!:

Cheers

Maybe 1 should look at the fact that we are still beating the best in the world even though we are not at our best with the bat, the boys are bowling and fielding spectacular which makes up for the poor batting and even though its not that great to watch ( for your average part timer) the game/war is still in it and as far as im concerned Australias stradegy and team play has been outstanding despite thier faults and i thought last nights game was awesome for the fact that the boys faught back once again from a certain loss and prevailed.. Fantastic viewing IMHO

Had a few Lethal?

You are right about that though. At 4/64 though, I thought we were heading for a flogging. I didn't need to see that- especially against those pricks from India.

Yeah I couldn't handle losing to India either, I'm still waiting for Simmo to roll around like a certain prick just to have a laugh. I think that would be oh so funny, but then I suppose he WOULD get fined and suspended. What a crock :x

Nah i just get a bit narky when everyone bags out the boys, you cant expect to flog the opposition every game and quite honestly i would rather see a good close match any day of the week + i will say once again that even though they are not at their best at the moment they are still beating the worlds best..
