First AG
First AG
Hi guys
Did my first AG today.
I did Ross(Craft Brewer) Sauvin Summer Ale Recipe
All went well...Hit temps and volumes spot on...Had a minor problem with my bung in my esky, lost a litre or two...Still got a OG of 1045 of pure gold nectar.
Thanks for posting such great advice.. the camping mat on top of the grain bed really helped..only lost 0.5D for the dough in.
Was great fun doing it..looks like plenty more AG beer to come.
The ale is in temp controlled fridge at 18D.. cant wait to taste it.

Re: First AG
And I'll bet it was a lot easier than you thought !
I'm sure you'll love the beer, and won't look back, now that you have joined the AG brewers.
As Trough Lolly amd others say so often, keep detailed notes of what you did and when, so that you can repeat it when you get a beer you want to brew again. It will take some of the guesswork out of future batches, and no doubt also help to improve your brewing process and efficiency.

Thanks Warra48
Yes...Decided to dive in the AG pool and have a go..wasnt perfect..but whos first Ag was ? Loved the smell of hot water on grain ! loved the whole process. Wrote down the whole process on paper before I started, will keep notes. My efficiency was good...but my process needs work. Work in progress.

Re: First AG
Thanks to all who contribute to this forum for the great advice and posts, knowledge is power and Im feeling more empowered to make more AG beer.
Beer is rocking along nicely...nice colour and smell. Will rack it to secondary on Sunday.
Just trying to decide on recipes..wow heaps to try. I decided on TLs Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, seems a winner with the members on this forum .
Keep the good advice coming for us AG newbies.
Cheers

Re: First AG
Yeah on ya Taz, no looking back now, i will give you the same advice that Ed gave me when i first started ag, drink all of your kit beers now and get rid of them before you try the ag brew cos if you dont then you more than likely wont be able to

Cheers

Re: First AG
how true! you can always pass them off to your mates who can't taste the difference
are cornflakes flaked corn?
Re: First AG
Will update later with tasting notes.. looks a pale golden colour..and the aroma of Nelson Sauvin hops fills the brew fridge. Can see this one being put down once or twice for summer.I have one kit left, its a Coopers Euro Lager and guess what...NS hops are going in this one.
Will do a AG version later..yummy.
Im trying to keep my AG beer under wraps from the mates..keep dishing out my kit beers to them..or they can have a VB
