Porter recipe with left overs???

Post by ajoleary »

I'm getting pressure from the missus to clean out my HB cupboard and make room for some of her stuff. So what better way to make room, than to use up some of my supplies!

So here are the ingredients I’ve got at the moment to choose from:

Cascade Mahogany Porter can
Coopers Pale can
Coopers Booster pack #2
LDME
DDME
Dextrose
Lactose
Crystal Malt
Chocolate Malt
Dried Corn Syrup
Fuggles pellets
Goldings pellets
Safale 04
Multiple generic kit yeasts

Any suggestions to make a nice Porter recipe and how long I should steep/hop for?

That would hurt KEG!

I'd go:

The pale can, dark malt, 1/2 the pale, some choc and crystal, fuggles for bitterness, goldings and fuggles for flavour (30/70) and a saf yeast.

Make a nice strong amber/dark ale for winter.

1 Coopers Pale Ale
1 Kg DDM
.5 LDM
.5 Choc Malt (Grain) Steep for 1 hour and add sweet liquid to the boil with the Dry Malts and add hops accordingly.
20 g Fuggles @ 25 mins
20 g Fuggles @ flameout
Safale 04.

You could cut back on the grain to lessen the intensity, but I am getting a taste for it.
