Blackrock IPA + Nelson Sauvin?

Post by dustnode »

OK, hello, been lurking here for a few months and thought it was about time to register and get stuck in.

So I've got a can of Blackrock IPA and i've sort of heard around that it's ok but a little bland.
anyway i picked up a 25g packet of nelson sauvin today and figured it'd be a good addition along with a kilo of LDME and 500g of Dex.
So any suggestions on a recipe? i'm thinking 12.5g for 60m with some of the malt, then add the remaining at 10m to go.
but i'm not sure, and i've got tonnes of leftover cascade, amarillo, goldings and northern brewer leftover from previous batches. really interested to know what sort of results if any people have had from nelson sauvin in this type of beer, and any suggestions you guys might have.

Depends how much of a hop head you are. I would use the NS and maybe some Cascade or Amarillo late in the boil (15 min or less). No real reason to make a 60min addition here as the kit will have plenty of IBUs. This allows you to add more hop aroma without going overboard on IBUs.
Prost and happy brewing!

thanks for the suggestion, ended up doing a 60 minute boil anyway with some of the NS and chucking the rest in at various intervals. Turns out a mate had made up a can of black rock IPA a few months back and was a little dissatisfied with the results, recommended i beef it up a little.
