Chai flavoured GB

Post by gazpachos0up »

What do you guys reckon of putting a couple of chai t bags in some GB. Its full of cloves and ginger and cinnamon. I reckon it'd add a bit of flava. Not sure about the tea flava though. But ginger iced tea beer might be ok...
Might try this one

Unless someone thinks otherwise

Gaz....

Have you tried the search button above?

GB with addition of spices (including cloves and cinnamon has been discussed quite a bit). Plenty of good recipes about to give you an idea of quantities.

Search then ask.

here's one

To be fair I don't know if Chai has come up before...

I would think it better to find out exactly what is in the chai bags then buy the ingredients seperately. It will be cheaper and you can tweak the quantities.

Me too! Also Chai means tea in several languages so you are calling it Tea Tea

Maybe try those ingredients in a ginger beer rather than proper beer?

A mate of mine made a Chai Beer.

No chai taste, but more in its aroma! Very interesting.

I'd agree with buying the ingredients separately. I'm an old chai-sipping hippy from waaaaay back. Have always made my own. I find store-bought chai has too much black tea in it, and often tea can go stale very quickly.

Here's my recipe for Chai (quantities to suit individual taste):
Whole nutmegs
Whole cloves
Cinnamon sticks
Black peppercorns
Whole Cardamon pods
Orange/Mandarin/Lemon/Tangerine Peel

You can boil this up in a pot, and just keep topping up with water and reboiling. You can do this for a bit before the whole spices lose their flavour (depends on intial quantities though). Pour into your favourite mug, and add teabag, milk, honey as you please.
Voila!

Some people like Star Anise in Chai - I personally find it overpowering. Using whole spices is definitely better too...
:D
