Re: The Wheatsheaf
Am here there Sat night with mates for a few brew for me bday. The majority of my mates will not be pleased as thay cant drink TEDS or some other no flavor highly carbed beer. This is why i wana go. Been told thay have some real beer to be had. Myself and my fellow brewer mate are keen as to go. Just going to hurt the hip pocket with all them fine brews to try
Any recomendations on what to try and maybe not?

I can't remember what they have on hand pump there, but I'd give that a go.
theres some nice stouts on their list for this type of weather
I'm sure you won't have too much trouble.
happy birthday!

Tim, highly recommend you try beers you havent before. Stuff from Mountain Goat and Moo Brew if its still on, LCPA from the keg rather than bottle is always a treat and you must drink whatever is on the handpump. Your TED mates will fall over form the shock of a beer that is damn near flat and 'warm' by the -2C TED champers standard.
Look at their bottle list too. I highly recommend you try the Mountain Goat Surefoot Stout and Youngs Double Choc Stout (a desert beer if ever there was one).
And Timothy Taylors Landlord at $10 may seem pricey but its worth it IMHO. One of the best beers i have ever had.

I had a TTL from G&G the other day and was disappointed. But then I noticed that it was a couple of months past its best before. Caveat emptor I guess.

w00t!

Its not the same as fresh on tap i will admit. With all the imports its a bit hit and miss as to how they arrive. The one i had was oxidised to buggery. And i bought it from the wheatie but it was a takeaway so couldnt take it back.

Re: The Wheatsheaf
Went there for with the little lady for a date tonight, farkin awesome.
they had the hightail ale on hand pump, absolutely god-damn awesome.
tried the pepperberry ale, which i thought was awesome. sarsparilla-ish spicyness comes through in a really mellow way.
and of course, Timothy Taylor's Landlord. although I'm sure the crew there know what they're on about, I thought it was a little cold. But my god was it tasty!
never tried anything near as good as this. and I hope I never drink anything below this standard ever again.
I'm not sure if its just because I'd been searching for it for so long and built it up in my mind, but it was the best.
If you haven't tried it, go. go now. get some.
the moo brew stout was also pretty near perfection.
