Coopers Australian Pale Ale + Enhancement

Did a Coopers ginger beer in my fermenter (too sweet!!) and later followed with a Coopers Australian pale Ale which I find so good and reliable. Despite cleaning the fermenter thoroughly as I always do, the beer had a small but noticeable ginger beer taste which luckily made it very interesting and other people who tasted it really liked it. I won't try ginger beer again in the beer fermenter but it made a distinct and pleasant variation to a very good drop.

Just a comment regarding beer kits such as Coopers Australian pale Ale. I find that using this kit with its own supplied yeast and Coopers enhancer 2 produces a beer that all my friends love as much or even more than the commercially produced Coopers beers. I have got it down to a fine art and it involves minimum effort to make and is always reliable which is important for busy people. For those with more time and love experimenting, I'm sure that taste improvements are possible but I wonder how much better it would be as the existing method using the recommended standard recipe is in most peoples opinion, superb, and they are not just sucking up to get free booze.

You're right, Don. This makes a tasty beverage. It was my 2nd brew ever and it came out very nice. I've done it again recently, and after a couple of years of full extract and AG brewing, I found it to be a bit thin. Still easy to drink, though.

Spot on Don! Coopers APA and their Draught, stock standard, are the favourites with my crowd! I always have one fermenter on with Draught and the other one for experiments. The other benefit is that Coopers HB doesn't seem to create hangovers like commercial beers (or is that just the power of suggestion at work?)

Couldn't agree more - like you, Tim, the APA was my 2nd ever brew, and after a few initial flat beers and advice from this forum, time was the solution and by the end of the batch it was magnificent. I regretted turfing the few that were flat, but now know better. I returned to the APA for my 8th brew (after stout, pilsener, euro lager (2) and canadian blonde), bottled on 14 Sept with the intention of cracking the first one on the first day of summer. Will be bottling Coopers Sparkling Ale this weekend for a New Years Eve launch.

I attended a session with the owner of Grand Ridge Brewery (Mirboo North - Vic) last night and he guarantees no hangovers from his beer, as it does not contain preservatives, chemicals (incl "thirst accelerants"!!) etc that commercial beers do. Neither does HB, that's why we love it.

Finished off last Thursday night with a few Moonshines, Friday morning the world seemed a bit blurry but not at all painfull. Haven't yet found a local bottlo that stocks the Supershine.

He was saying it takes 12 months to brew a Supershine (8 months for Moonshine), he has pre-sold all of next year's Supershine, and 70% of the following year's - so if you want a Supershine, you need to place an order now for delivery August 2011!! That's why we never get to see any for sale. Dan Murphy is pretty good on all GR brews, incl Moonshine (at about $6 a 330ml bottle)
