Hey all
Well was bottling some beer this evening when ran out of castor sugar i use to prime.
So went into the kitchen and grabbed the 'sugar' canister for tea, coffee etc. All was good until my fiance came home and went to make a drink, asked me where the 'sugar' was, i went and got it and she said "you do kow thats not sugar don't you?"
"huh" i says, she then proceeds to tell me its 'csr smart sugar' like sugar/sweetener hybrid stuff!!!
So the question is how are the beers with the 'sweetner/sugar mix' going to go???
I'm assuming it's something like 'equal' but not sure as the packet has been thrown out.
Cheers
Jez
Made a big mistake!!
Re: Made a big mistake!!
At a guess, I'd say the sugar proportion will ferment out and give your beer some carbonation.
The artificial sweetener part may not ferment out, so your beer will be a little sweeter than you might expect.
At a guess, say ½ a teaspoon probably won't be too bad.
Hope it works out for you.

Re: Made a big mistake!!
My googling comes up with this quote from the CSR website.
CSR SMART is sugar blended with a tiny amount of sweeteners. It contains 99.5% sugar with 0.5%
sweeteners – 0.25% Acesulphame Potassium (950*) and 0.25% Aspartame (951*). *Food additive number
99.5% real sugar, not sure what the yeasties would do with the aspartame though.
Should (noobie disclaimer here) carbonate fine.

Thanks to Eddie.
I think you'll be fine, and shouldn't really notice any difference from normal.
