Caustic soda, bottle brush, straight bleach, oxy action napisan and hot water, I would try those in reverse order until one works. If none work then maybe a bit of time in the oven?

I've already used the oxy action nappysan and brush (I use that for everything anyway), but they just didn't wana ...

I have a heap of clear glass bottles that were left under my house for over a year, and it appears that they now have stains in the bottom (possibly old yeast from not being rinsed properly), even after soaking for three days.

Any suggestions on removing them?

According to Wiki it kills bacteria, and further down the page it says that sodium silicate is used to purify water because it bonds to heavier molecules and drags them out.

I've had two, and neither were air-tight.
I might have just bought lemons.

I can only get my fridge up to a max of 7-8 degrees...is that too cold to throw my primary fermenter in if I'm doing a lager?

Mines tenth-hand and OLD, so the highest setting seems to be around 12c, but it's not stable. I had to turn it off overnight two days ago because the temperature dropped ...

I rinse after drinking...
Before all brews I fill my bathtub with water, submerge all bottles and put in a bit of bleach and some Coopers sanitiser (sodium percarbonate... use napisan if you want to do it on the cheap) - I leave for 24 hours, and then rinse with water before bottling.

I've been ...

Question: washing glass bottles

If I'm using alkaline salts to wash my glass bottles, do I need to scrub with a bottle brush or should the detergents remove everything if they are thoroughly rinsed in hot water straight after they've been used?

It's taken me a while, but I've accumulated 65 Coopers tallies, so I try to look after ...

I do believe keeping things in the "tin" is an old wives tale from back in the days when cans were actually made of tin and lead rather than steel, though this could be wrong.

I have done a few commercial cookery courses (although the work sucked so I didn't follow through), and our (I think it ...

Sorry, what I meant by cooler weather was that I can get them to 17c but that's about it.

This is the 1st time I've had a fridge available.

I'm lazy, so I just put loose hops in and never worry about filtering anything, and I don't see hops in the bottles very often, but who cares alot anyway...

How long do Lager yeast take to ferment?

I've just got my brew-fridge cleaned out and started to use it, but I have no idea how long lagers take to ferment at lower temps, as I've only really done them when the weathers cooler and not in a fridge before.

I currently have it running at 12°c.

Any ideas anyone?

I've only seen 2 of them getting around here. I'd love to get some.
I might use 2L Coke bottles or something instead.
