Coopers Pale Ale

At the moment at Vintage Cellars (the Richmond, Vic store at least) you can pick up a slab of Coopers Pale Ale for $39.99.

But wait, there's more - they also throw in 4 free Coopers pot glasses. Best deal in a while I reckon

Re: Should've known better

Here's one I was sent a while ago (from a guy at Cooper's funnily enough!).

Ingredients
3 large pieces of ginger (about a kilo)
1 cinnamon stick
10 cloves
500g light crystal malt (I assume he means light malt)
1kg dextrose
Rehydrated wine yeast
Cheers,

Oliver

Regarding the original recipe ...

Yep, got home and deleted the cookies and it worked fine.

I've had the problem before where it wouldn't KEEP me logged in, but never before this has it not let me log in at all.

Thanks for the response Rubber.Piggy,

Well quite odd because I couldn't log in at home, but now at work I am automatically logged in - it might be a problem with my home computer's settings although it's only appeared overnight - will check it when I get home.

Welcome back Oliver, the place hasn't been the same without you.

As good as the site has been going lately, I have a strange feeling that it may return to its 'Glory Days' with the 2nd coming of Olly.

Different browsers handle this differently. In Internet Explorer, using the back button results in a page saying "Warning: Page has Expired" and asking you to refresh the page. When you do, it comes up with a dialogue box saying something like

I've found this with IE - the way I get around this ...

Tipsy,

I don't have the figures on me so all I can remember is it was around half a packet of hops (prob around 15grams). I put them in a stocking, steeped them in a cup of boiling water for 10mins and then threw the water and the stocking into the wort.

If I can find out exactly how much I used I ...

ex0ja,

Just for some comfort my hot water tap in the kitchen does exactly the same thing. I fill up a glass, it looks white and I can actually hear the bubbles popping (or effervescing as the case may be). If I let it sit for a little bit the bubbles disappear and the water looks clear.

I also tried a CPA using Willamette I had left over from a JSAA clone. I also used BE2 and 500g malt and recultured a CPA yeast. Easily the best home brew I've done.

Kosmo - there's a fewhomebrew shops around the Frankston area, never been to any myself but always drove past them.

There's a couple of Brew & Grows - both on the nepean highway, one is around Chelsea/Edithvale next to Flakey Jakes and the other is in Frankston

There's also a couple of standalones ...

The guy at Grain and Grape recommended goldings to me 40g I think - 20 for 10 mins, 20 for 1 min.

I haven't tasted that batch yet so can't comment on the taste, but the guy said it would make it an even better beer than the standard CSA.

Normally I wouldn't get involved in this type of thing but at the moment I feel compelled to - I've only made 130 odd posts in more than a year so I don't consider myself to be any sort of prized member on this forum but thought I'd should have my say anyway.

I agree with the sentiment that a lot ...

The batch above in question worked quite well, the starter was bubbling as I put it in but I couldn't tell how long til the airlock on the main wort bubbled as it never does for me. It turned out to be the best beer by far I've made to date.

Since then I tried to culture a yeast from a Coopers ...

I've got a Coopers Sparkling that has been cold conditioning in the fridge for a number of weeks now, I think I'll have to make up another yeast starter when I bottle.

Another potential quote that I've been thinking of printing on a shirt anyway:

"I life life almost as much as beer itself!"

Can substitute homebrew instead of beer as well I guess.
