Cheers for that. Good little calculator.

Ok...according to the calculator I should have used about 187g of dex for a carb level of 2.8.

I'll be using a little more for my next BP for sure.

Thanks again :D

I've used new lids for this one as it's the first "Premium" beer that I've brewed. i usually just go for the elstocko tooheys draught with a blue gum or bush mallee honey.

As for disolving the dex for the BP I only used about 200ml of boiling water to disolve the 170gms of dex.

Dr Smurto was the ...

Just your normal amount of air space at the top. No different to if I was using carb drops which seem to carb better at the moment. Just how much dex should I be using for 23L?

BP James squire amber ale

I've recently BP my SQ amber ale clone with 170gm of Dextrose to find that after a couple of weeks it hasn't carbinated as I would have expected. The taste is awesome but it lacks the bubbles. I'm using PET bottles and whilst the bottles are tight as a nun in the study sitting at about 24 deg ...

At the moment I've got a porter that is ready and CC in the fridge ready for the 23rd. I'm hoping to have a lager ready by the 23rd too. First attempt at buld priming on this one.

Of course....bring the wife. Everyone is. It's just the typical J Day crew that's coming. Should be a great shin dig ...

Bulk priming?

I'm wondering what is the general rule (measurement) for the amount of suger added to 23L for bulk priming? After info given on another post of mine I've decided to bulk prime to hopefully gain better head retention and carbination of bottles. I'm doing away with coopers carb drops which seemed to ...

I'm pretty flat out at the moment and can't see it stopping any time soon. AG brewing from what I understand takes about 5hrs out of a day to get it right. I reckon the most I'd get into is maybe partial. The HBS will be the go for the future for sure. Coles has lost my business for a while until ...

Looks like i'll be buying another wort for bulk priming. I'm heading into the HB shop this arvo and am sure those lads will give me some good advice as well.

I'll also be using dextrose to prime rather than the carb drops from now on too. I've found that they don't carbonate enough. Waste of time ...

So far lads the information is excellent and thankyou to all. I would love to know how to actually go through with grains and suppose I'd require the patience to go along with it. I'll have to get drsmurto around for a bit of experimentation.

As far as kit brews go....aren't there some that are ...

Avoiding HB flavour from Kit Hops?

After reading a fair few posts on here I realise just how much of a novice I really am.

I'm after some advice on how to avoid the "Home Brew" flavour that most 1.7Kg cans seem to give (ie. Coopers range from Coles supermarkets). I've come to the conclusion that it more than likely comes down to the ...

That's why we call you the Dr. :D

If everyone was to worry about the nasties then there would be a whole lot more suicides. Who gives. A good rinse in hot water and every now and then let them sit in some Chlorine solution and your fine. I've been brewing for about 12 months and haven't had any ...
