Adding a photo of my improved english barrel to take the 'bubbler' via the top so i can take readings and bottle fill when ready to do so, all in one container now, excellent :D

Hi gang been a while.

I drank all of my lager now and the ales gone to :P both very good after all of my worrying, i have just started a draught beer just out of curiosity.
What exactly is draught beer please :oops:

Cider

Hi guys, just made a cider from juice, did all the waiting and it's stopped at 1018 for the last couple of days, i will be bottling it.
My question is do i resugar the bottles, to carbonate as you would beer or do i just leave it.
There is a very slight fizz still there, the bubbles just hang to ...

original reading was 1052, i used a champagne yeast from my brewshop. i used 1kg of brew sugar and 500g of sucrose + some apples chopped up and chucked in? If the yeast as died say what do i do now? do i warm the bugger up/throw in another yeats or just leave it be?

My cider as just stopped bubbling, three days in. The lid is all condensation speckled and it as a temp of around 16c, it smells lovely very appleicous, i did a reading out of curiosity it has come down a little it's now at 1040, do i leave it alone now for a week say, do my readings etc, then ...

5 litres of berry juice
500g lactose.
1kilo brewing sugar.
2 kilos of granny smiths (peeled /chopped up)
1 sachet of champagne yeast

Throw the juice into your container, add the apples (all the peels and cores) the lot, both sugars. I added a litre of boiling water, and 5 litres of cold.

Thanks for replies everyone, but i wrote the wrong numbers down, (i have bits of paper everywhere with numbers all over them?) it actually read 1020 and the reading today is 1018. I have been to Joondalup to get my bits and bobs anyway, i will wait until weekend now do more readings if same i will ...

Hi guys, i wanted to try this last year back in blighty, but i never got around to it.
I have a 5 ltre demi john with air lock top, i want to know if when i put the 2 litres of pure juice in do i top up to 4 litres with water, and because we like a sweeter cider do i add equal amounts of brewing ...

Ok thanks for that i will wait until tuesday and go get a bottle wand. I have just taken a reading and it's at 1030, no bubbles and no visible froth on top of brew mix, resealed and will do another reading in morning, still going down to Joondalup to get a bottle wand either way.

Thanks for that, but i am using my converted barrel from the UK, i will be using the tap thats installed on the barrel to decant into the pet bottles. By what your saying i reckon it will be about a 20mm gap, does that sound about right?

Lol yeah...
I will be bottling this brew by the end of next week, if it's readings are ok.
My question is this, how much space between beer and top of bottle (air space) is the correct amount. Only asking as when i bottled my lager i had varying depyhs and some of the bottles had a lot more fizz ...

Hi guys,
I am a week in to my new brew, a coopers pale ale. It as just stopped bubbling yesterday, do i wait another week without taking a reading at all or do i take a reading now regardless. I know i am a pain in the arse but i want this to be right so i know next time, i was lucky with the lager ...

When doing a brew, and you reach the bottling stage and you do find it to be bad smelling or just 'off', do you still bottle and hope or what? Also is it still drinkable, what i mean is whats the worst that could happen - the shits maybe? :shock:

I have made my mods and now i will be making up my second brew, it's another Coopers but this time it's the real ale kit.

After a short head scratching session in the yard with a beer and my plastic keg, i decided to drill out the top of the screw on cap and i have modified it to take a bubbler :D
The reason behind doing it is this, after a few chats with one or two here i converted my barrel to be used as a fermentor ...
